  1. I love the freedom and self expression writing can create. Words are powerful. They can spark realities unknown. They can foster change. They can help heal. They can leave legacies. You are helping create that space. This website is a great encouragement to my heart to write once again…All the best with your first fall session my friend.

  2. beautiful… yes, authentic living has been on my heart now for about five years. writing gives me permission to peek at the “real” me in a safe, non-vulnerable (to others anyway) way. and yes, stepping out to tell the parts that I want to tell takes courage. the love and support of others also helped me start my blog (your picture of flying out into Lake Michigan is so perfect), and I found a new relationship with the dis-interest (silence) of others and imperfectness of me. So much more to do, discover, reveal, hide!, and share that I welcome your workshop!

  3. When at the library I always skim through the books and will open to a page in the middle to see if I want to check it out but perhaps I should just go with the first line from now on!

  4. It truly is a beautiful thing when writers can encourage each other instead of feeling threatened by others’ successes. Your studio sounds like an enchanting place to be. 🙂

  5. My mother also has a Kindle and raves about it but like you I want to hold the book in my hands, see the cover, and I love reading used books and thinking of all the others who have enjoyed the words like I am.

  6. Morning pages are a part of my life, most days anyway. Without them I enter the day with spaghetti thoughts and saucey plans that never quite get started! But, here’s the deal: I’m retired, and it was difficult – very unusual – for me to keep the committment when I was working. So CARRY ON Carrie! You’ve got my vote! And I just bet some awesome surprises show up on your pages.

  7. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.” -Nelson Mandela (and often shared by Marianne Williamson)

  8. I am a Houston based photoblogger. You may have seen me taking pictures at local art galley openings. If you are interested, check the menu buttons in the header of my blog for “Art Lovers”, “Houston” and “Texas”.

    1. It’s great to know another Houston Creative! And if you’re every looking for Studio Space, Summer Street is a great environment!

  9. I just found your blog and scrolled through your posts for a bit before coming across this one in particular and i would really like to thank you for writing and sharing this. I felt emotions while reading this that I have never experienced and it was incredibly inspiring. If it’s alright with you I would love to write my own “I Know What It’s Like.” If I ended up posting it to my own blog I would give you full credit for the idea and inspiration:) even if you wouldn’t be comfortable with that I understand, but I’m really glad you shared your experiences with us and I am so glad I came across this today, it is exactly what I needed to see.

    1. I’m so glad this piece connected with you! I would LOVE for you to write your own “I Know What It’s Like” piece and I can’t wait to read it!

      You’ve made my day!

      1. Awesome!! I’m glad I could make your day:) it may take me a while to figure it out since I’m fairly new at the whole blogging thing, but I’ll definitely find out how to link you to the page once I write it and get it up. Thank you!!
